Here’s a great one – I’m blown away by the work that Katie Stone has done with her Children’s Music Hour. It’s immensely good. “Katie Stone is the host and producer of The Children’s Hour radio show and podcast. The show’s goal is to bring informative, entertaining and engaging radio programming to listeners of all ages, showcasing local kids and kid-friendly organizations, while involving kids in all aspects of the production. Katie works with a crew of dedicated children who help produce the show, including writing and voicing scripts and reviews, helping choose jokes, show themes, music and guests, and assisting in all aspects of the live broadcast.”

What an honor to be able to talk to Paul Reisler about Kid Pan Alley on the occasion his organization’s 20th anniversary. You may remember that I talked with Paul back on episode 112, and we got a lot of backstory on him and what his incredible organization does. Be sure to listen to the title track ‘Best Friends’ from the brand new Kid Pan Alley record ‘Best Friends’. Editors note: Apologies for the “clippy dippy’s” on my side of the conversation.
“Kid Pan Alley celebrates its 20th Anniversary inspiring and empowering children to work together to create their own music. What better way to mark the occasion than with the new CD Best Friends, arriving October 11 on Kid Pan Alley Records. Best Friends features songs co-written by students in 10 different schools and Kid Pan Alley songwriters led by KPA’s Founder Paul Reisler. Among the highlights are guest vocals by an array of popular children’s artists including GRAMMY® Award winners and nominees and multi-award-winning artists: Lisa Loeb, Bill Harley, Sonia De Los Santos, John McCutcheon, Randy Kaplan, Robbie Schaefer, The Not-Its! Dazzling vocals, expert production, vibrant instrumentation and delightful lyrics are among the hallmarks of this fifth Kid Pan Alley release.”
There’s really not a cooler sound than a tennis ball being hit. I can’t even do an impression. I love tennis. It’s a great game. I was so excited to talk to Esther Forrester from Brainiac Tennis about her program, and what she does. Now get out there and work on your backhand! Deuce!
“From Parker & Alexander, creators of the popular children’s rock duo Spaghetti Eddie, comes a family-friendly musical take on beloved Bible stories, All of Us: Bible Songs for Everyone. All of Us: Bible Songs for Everyone presents story songs that, in these days of cross-cultural exploration, really do belong to “all of us,” told through upbeat, eclectic music with a lilting sense of rhythmic pulse and a laid-back, melodic charm. The result is a vibrant musical experience designed to engage the whole family in absorbing the timeless – and timely – lessons that have come to us from so long ago.”
Be sure to stay tuned all the way to the end of the episode to hear Parker & Alexander’s song ‘Noah’.
Here’s a great conversation with M Dorsett about her new book ‘The Lion and the Elephant’. She’s got a great approach to how she created the book, and it’s a different and very creative way for kids to get involved with the story.
