Joel did it! He hiked the entire Wild West Trail. It was great to catch up with Joel Salvino, and I was amazed and in awe as he shared his stories and triumphs from his (long) time on the trail and off the grid. You can actually see some of the amazing wilderness that Joel hiked on his youtube channel. It’s worth a watch. Were there bears? I don’t know! You’ll have to listen to find out. Check out the Wild West Trail Instagram as well. Such beautiful photos!
Episode #175! I want to thank everyone who has listened and supported the Good Stuff Kids Podcast. It is my favorite thing to do, and I hope that when you listen you find new favorites for your family to enjoy. There’s a lot of great episodes coming down the pipeline.
I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to talk with Dan Zanes and Claudia Eliaza. Dan is a grammy winning musician and bandleader who has teamed up with Yuriana Sobrino and his wife, Claudia Eliaza, to create a “Sensory Friendly Comic Folk Opera” called Night Train 57. We talked about how why creating sensory friendly live music experiences for families are so important and what inspired them to move in this direction.
It’s winter break! That means lots and lots of family togetherness. Which means lots and lots of opportunities to get frustrated with all kinds of behavior. Luckily I talked to an expert on how to handle these times as parents. Carla Naumburg is a clinical Social Worker, Parent Coach, and Author. Her latest, ‘How to Stop Losing Your Sh*t with Your Kids’, will be released soon and it is guaranteed to help. Carla took the time to help me out with some pointers that will be beneficial to you as well. She’s also really really funny. Fair warning – there is mild adult language in this episode.
The Nik Naks originally caught my eye on Instagram. I saw that they were working on a book and plush toy to go along with one of their songs. I’m always curious about the direction that music takes people, so I reached out. We exchanged a few emails and set up a time to talk. Sam and JF are incredible musicians who are making it work on the Las Vegas scene. I love Las Vegas and it was interesting to hear from Sam and JF about what their lives as working musicians was like. Of course, I also had to get the scoop on what led them to music for kids and families. I was also really excited to talk to them about their music. Stay tuned all the way to the end of the show to hear their song ‘Get Up And Go’. “
It was a total pleasure to welcome newly-minted Grammy Nominee Lucy Kalantari to the show. Talking to her was so joyful and fun. We talked about her artistic journey from “adult contemporary” (you’ve got to hear her say it) to her upbeat jazz-age inspired music for kids and families. We even got to talk about her experience playing at Lollapalooza! Rock Star!!! Be sure to listen to her new album (the grammy nominated one!) ‘All The Sounds’ and stay tuned all the way to the end of the episode to hear the full song ‘Sounds of Summer’.
